I. Meeting called to order at 1907 hours by President Dave Souza

IV. Introduction of Special Guests

1.  Gary Bayne of Tracy POA was introduced and spoke of fund raising efforts for Tracy PD Officer Mike Cox who has cancer.  Bayne passed out information on a poker run sponsored by Tracy POA.
A motion was made my Joe Schmidt to donate $500 to Tracy POA for Mike Cox.  Seconded by John Beard.  Motion carried.  ($500 to be donated from chapter general account)

V. Approval of Minutes

1.  The minutes from May, June & August were presented.  Motion was made by Doug Ridenour to approve.  Joe Schmidt wanted minutes amended to reflect he's from Stockton POA and not Sacramento POA.  Joe was reminded to write out Stockton POA on the roll call list instead of writing SPOA as there is more than one SPOA.  Minutes were amended.  Second by Bertalotto.  Motion carried.

VI. Treasurer's report

1. Paul Brown presented report, Valley Chapter account balances: General acct - $18,422.18, PAC Acct - $39,531.80.  Motion to accept report by Beintema, 2nd Doug Ridenour, motion carried

VII. Old Business

1.  Associations were told to be prepared at this meeting to ask for financial assistance to send members to conference.  Stanislaus DAI requested assistance and Oakdale POA requested money to send two people.  After a discussion it was decided a cap of $750 per association would be allowed.  Motion was made by Schlenker to give $750 to Oakdale POA and $750 to Stanislaus DAI.  Second by Brown.  Motion carried.

VIII. New Business

1.  Doug Ridenour introduced his brother Jim Ridenour.  Jim is running for the Mayor of Modesto.  Jim is also a Reserve Sheriff's Deputy and is a PORAC member.  Because of time constraints Jim was not able to get individual endorsements from affected associations.  Stanislaus DAI, Stanislaus DSA, and Stanislaus SMA were present and did not object to a PORAC endorsement of Jim Ridenour.   Smith made a motion to endorse Jim Ridenour for Modesto Mayor.  Second by Adam Christianson.  Motion carried, however the endorsement won't be official unless Modesto POA and Modesto PMA do not raise an objection before or at the October meeting.

Randy  discussed the PORAC Conf and a variety of legislative issues. 

B. Insurance and Benefits

Mike Caverllerro discussed Cal Casualty Insurance.

C. LDF

Schlenker discussed several pending cases/

D. Service Provider's Reports

Mastagni discussed a case of a Solano Deputy being demoted while on military leave.

E. Association reports

X. Good of the Association

1.  PORAC Conference will be at Indian Wells on November 20 through 23.

1.  Stockton, October 9th.

REGION II MEETING

The Valley Chapter meeting was recessed and the Region II meeting was held.  The Valley Chapter Meeting resumed at new business when the region II meeting was concluded.

Region II meeting called to order at 1916 hours.

Nominations were opened.

Mike Caverllerro nominated Randy Beintema for Executive Director Region II.  Second by Ridenour.

Mike Caverllerro spoke of his withdrawal from candidacy for PORAC President.

Ron Cottinghan, the only remaining Candidate for PORAC President, was present and spoke.

Region II meeting was closed at 1930 hours and the Valley Chapter Meeting resumed.
