Other Business:
Ron Cottingham:
Phil Angelides for Governor - PORAC has maxed out its contributions to Angelides. On August 08, the Board agreed to contribute 100,000 dollars to the Democratic Party. In addition to the state level maxing itself out, several of the chapters also donated moeny to the campaingn. PORAC would like to ask that you encourage your local associations to endorse the same state candidates that PORAC has endorsed.
Arnold's Campaign -His campaign has picked up momentum since the special election. He has hired a new team to advise him and has recently made certain decisions that appeal to the public. At the latest polls, Arnold is shown at 13 points ahead of Angelides. One encouraging factor however, is that Arnold has already spent 20 million dollars and Angelides has only spent 6 million. Considering the huge disparity in the dollars spent, Angelides is doing well.
PORAC Elections - I will be running again this year for President. At this time, I do not believe there is anyone running against me. Additionally, Mike Durant will be running for Vice President. In the event that he wins the election and has to vacate his current position , there will be an election to fill his term for the remaining year.
- Motion: by Mike Cavallero endorse Ron Cottingham for PORAC President.
Second: Andy Schlenker

Motion Passed
PORAC Elections - If you are interested in running for a PORAC office and wish to send out campaign fliers, you can have them mailed out with the PORAC mailer on Monday. Simply make enough copies to forward to the membership. If you would like to send out a flier separately, you can make enough copies for the membership and send them to PORAC headquarters with enough money to cover the shipping. PORAC will be happy to mail them out using the membership database for you.
PORAC Conference - The PORAC Conference is booking fast. If you wish to stay at the Disneyland Hotel, you better hurry and make your reservations now. At the rate the rooms are going, there will not be any left by the October 20 cut-off date.
Small Association Scholarship - This year the winner of the small association scholarship is Weed POA.
Legislation - PORAC has been extremely active with legislation this year. The legislative session has ended and any bills that PORAC has been involved with are now at the Governor's desk. Visit the PORAC website for detailed listings of each bill.

Valley Chapter Call to Order (Reconvenes):
By Dan Schnepple at 1958 hours
Old Business:
Dan Schnepple:
Valley Chapter Election Concerns - Recently there was some confusion regarding the by-laws and whether or not the Chapter was in compliance with its by-laws.
- Ron Cottingham:
This matter was brought to state PORAC attention and an opinion was issued by corporate counsel. Numerous Chapters have gotten out of sync. This occurs when members step down and positions are filled to cover those vacated. The people of the Chapter voted in good faith. It is the opinion of counsel to leave everything as it is. Next year, a special meeting should be held for a one year term. This will bring everything back into sync. This ruling can be made by the Chapter Board. In the event the ruling is disputed, the members can grieve the matter.
- Dan Schnepple:
Based upon the opinion aand advice handed down by the state level PORAC, the Chapter will hold a special election next year in which the election term will be one year. The current Board members will maintain their positions until that time.
Dan Schnepple:
Small Association Scholarships - Calaveras County DSA has requested assistance from the Chapter to send one of its members to the PORAC conference.
Motion - Andy Schlenker to provide funds up to $750.00.
