V. Approval of Minutes

1. Minutes for April meeting corrected to reflect Randy Beintema was not present. His report was give by Dave Souza. Motion to accept minutes as amended of April meeting by Cardoza. 2nd by Paul Brown, Motion carried.

VI. Treasurer’s Report

Motion to accept Treasurer’s Report by Cardoza, 2nd by Smith, motion carried.

VIII. New Business

1. Paul Brown reported on activities of the PORAC Board. PORAC is going to look into a constitutional amendment on binding arbitration. It appears that the current law is going to be overturned state wide.

Because of financial problems at the state level they are looking at the problems in funding reimbursement to agencies for complying with POBOR. The state is considering suspending POBOR for a year to save money. PORAC will actively oppose this.

PORAC 50th anniversary is next year. Event will start the conference this year. PORAC is asking for anybody with items or photographs from PORAC’s history to please share them with the PORAC board. Contact Paul Brown if you have anything.

Don’t forget about the PORAC Symposium. June 3, 4, & 5.

Mastagni discussed the winning of a case for a Sac PD Officer.

E. Association Reports:

Placerville POA in negotiations.

Smith discussed the case of a Lemoore Police Office charged with manslaughter after an on-duty shooting.

                    Dave Souza discussed the Hells Angel funeral that was held in Stockton

Phil Jordan discussed RPOAC. Had a board meeting in April and will have another in September at the Silver Legacy.
