Spoke and asked for Valley Chapter Endorsement3. Barbara Mathews, Assembly person, 17th Assembly District, running for re-election.
Spoke and asked for Valley Chapter Endorsement4. Dennis Cardoza, Assemblyman, and Candidate for 18th Congressional District.
Assemblyman Cardoza had to leave prior to the start of the meeting but will be asking for PORAC’s endorsement for Congress.V. Approval of Minutes
1. Motion to accept minutes of November meeting by Beintema, 2nd by Papadopoulos, Motion carried.

VIII. New Business
1. President Ridenour asked if anybody from the floor would like to re-open the Valley Chapter election for Vice President and Treasurer. No comments from the floor so the election that took place at the November meeting will stand.
2. Dave Reeder Stockton POA, made a motion to donate $1000 to oppose measure I for the City of Stockton. Second by Malcom. Motion carried.
3. Motion by Beintema to endorse Rusty Arias for the primary for the 12th Assembly District. Second by Malcom. Motion carried.
4. Motion by Paul Brown to endorse John Pagetelos for Sacramento City Council. Second by Schlenker. Motion carried. No 30 day waiver requested as all affected associations not contacted. If you have comments or opposition to this motion they need to be brought to the February meeting where a final vote on the motion will be taken.
5. Motion by George Papadopoulos to endorse Gary Lopez for Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors. Second by Beintema. Motion carried.
6. Motion by Papadopoulos to waive the 30 day rule as Paul Konsdorf had obtained the blessing of all associations in Stanislaus County. Second by Schlenker. Motion carried.
7. Motion by Papadopoulos to donate $1000 to the campaign of Gary Lopez. Second by Beintema. Motion carried.
8. Motion by Malcom to endorse Baxter Dunn for Sheriff of San Joaquin County. Second by Reeder. Motion carried.
9. Motion by Malcom to endorse Lynn Bedford for San Joaquin BOS, District 5, second by Papadopoulos, motion carried.
10. Motion by Paul Brown to endorse Steve Cohn for Sacramento City Council, second by Beintema, motion carried.
11. Motion by Paul Brown to endorse Ray Trethaway for Sacramento City Council, second Schlenker, motion carried.
12. Motion by Beintema to endorse Barbara Mathews through the primary for the 17th Assembly District. Second by Greg Simpson. Motion carried.
13. Motion by Beintema to waive the 30 days for the Mathews endorsement. Second by Malcom, motion carried.
14. Motion by Beintema to endorse Dennis Cardoza for the 18th Congressional District through the primary only. Second by Malcom. Motion carried.
15. Motion by Beintema for 30 day waiver on the Cardoza nomination. Second by Schlenker, motion carried.
IX. REPORTS
A. PAC/OGA:
1. Clancy Faria addressed the meeting about various issues within PORAC. Talked of the move to get a 1/4 cent sales tax on the ballot with the money to go for public safety. Apparently the coalition that was working on this has fallen apart. Also spoke of AB 96.
B. Insurance & Benefits
1. Donna Miller of California Casualty spoke of programs offered by them
C. LDF
1. Andy Schlenker spoke of section 3508.1 of the Government code that was recently added giving civilian employees of police departments the same statute of limitations provided to peace officers in the peace officer bill of rights. Also spoke of the overall increase in cases for 2001 handled by LDF. It’s possible rates will increase because of this increased demand.
D. Service Providers
1. Mastagni spoke of a recent Supreme court case which upheld Pitchess
2. Tim Talbot spoke of contract they just negotiated for Colusa DSA.
